Candidate for Port of Coupeville Commissioner – District 3

In her current professional role, Angela has seen the impact that local government can have on the lives of the community. For this reason, she has decided to submit her name for candidacy for the Port of Coupeville Commissioner representing District 3. Angela is looking forward to earning the trust and confidence of the community.

Vibrant community

I believe that communities who work together have more power to create the change they want to see in their neighborhoods and influence positive change.

Economic vitality

The economic outlook and community benefit of the Port and its properties is a key component of the Port Commissioner position and it is my priority to encourage equity and access in nurturing these properties to benefit our community.

Collaborative approach

Government works best when organizations can leverage a cohesive and transparent working relationship for funding on projects, community buy-in, and overall effectiveness.

Natural Shared Spaces

Whidbey Island is such a special place for locals and visitors alike and I believe it’s because of the beautiful landscapes and open spaces that we spend time in year-round.

“Whidbey Island could benefit from local officials who are accessible, transparent, and committed to the communities they serve which is why I’m interested in running for the Port of Coupeville Commissioner position.”

Greenbank Farm Events

In talking with long-term residents, the Greenbank Farm used to host frequent and convivial events that encouraged visitors near and far to enjoy our beloved Greenbank Farm. In this role, I want to prioritize organizing more events for community to gather, share, and value this space that locals know and love as a great place to enjoy the island.

Coupeville Wharf Future-Proofing

As our community proactively works to mitigate impacts of climate change, it’s absolutely necessary to ensure that the future of the historic Wharf is secured by retrofitting and reinforcing the foundation and pier. I want to find a collaborative approach with other entities to find creative ways to future proof this space for generations.

Holmes Harbor Tide Gate

The residents of the Holmes Harbor community have been dealing with a persistent issue of tide gates adjacent to public facilities clogging and back-flowing, leading to concern of the dike breaching and creating a disaster for residents. I think a creative and collaborative approach is the best way to ensure that this issue is addressed for the community in District 3.
